The Stainton Institute Committee is delighted to announce that the 17th-century chapel has been successfully transformed into a vibrant community centre. This historic building, once in a dilapidated state, now serves as a hub for community activities in Stainton and the South Lakes, thanks to the generous support from various charitable organisations and grant funders.
Significant contributions came from Cumbria County Council via the Neighbourhood Forum, the Energy Efficient Village Hall Programme, and numerous charitable trusts including Cumbria Community Foundation, The Harold and Alice Bridges Trust, South Lakeland District Council the Lupton Towers Trust, the Baldoukie Charitable Trust and many other Charitable Trusts
The hall provides a high-quality venue for local events and activities. It is available for hire for, events, Clubs, private meetings, workshops and group meetings, Weddings and Anniversary’s, celebrations, Children’s/Birthday parties, private functions, funeral teas and other functions and events when not previously booked. The need for this community building was identified in the Stainton Parish Plan, and the formation of the Friends of Stainton Village Hall demonstrates strong local support. Our main partners include the entire community, the Parish Council, Friends of Village Hall, and user groups of the Village Hall. Representatives from these groups ensure the new community centre meets the needs of all.
